![]() Looking to gain more control?
Are you looking to regain just 30 minutes of your life? Are you looking to improve your interaction and relationship with others? Are you looking to be held accountable to your commitments? Are you looking to get to the next level of leadership? Coaching is a process focused on success that is measured step by step. It focuses on your goals, which a good coach will bring out. Coaching holds you accountable via structured communication that is based upon proven models of success. Many times executives engage Coaches to make the shift from Manager to Leader. How can you recognize leaders? At every level and with any title, leaders take responsibility for success, hold themselves accountable for making things work, do whatever it takes. They're not limited by their job descriptions; doing the job right is the necessity that mothers their inventive solutions. They don't ignore problems or stop at finding out why, they focus on goals and get past difficulties without much fuss. They expect situations and people to be imperfect, unfair, uncertain, unpredictable; they take charge and succeed anyway. Even if they're telling you about difficulties, they're in charge of their moods and are analyzing processes in order to improve them, not looking for excuses. When they say that they need more authority or resources, you know that's an accurate estimate of the situation, not the beginning of an endless list. You can hear choice, possibility, desire and determined optimism in their language; "we'll do it right the first time, we'll figure it out, we'll solve it, we'll get there" -- and they do. An apology is sincere and a trustworthy promise that it won't happen again. Victim managers How can you tell when people are beyond the level at which they can lead and succeed? They focus on problems and themselves; they're easily overwhelmed; speed bumps are insurmountable; if they can't figure out how to do things immediately and easily, then it's too difficult and can't be done. Other stuck people provide excuses for their own lack of productivity. They can always explain away the successful leaders.- Denver Business Journal, June 9, 2000 ![]()
